Report of a dwelling fire on Central Avenue

On Saturday afternoon, 4 May 2024, at approximately 1347 hours, Communications dispatched a call for a Structure Fire in the 34000 block of Central Avenue in unincorporated Frankford, De.

The following volunteer fire companies responded, Millville, Bethany Beach, Roxana, Dagsboro, and Frankford. Supplementing the suppression units, Sussex County Paramedic Unit #105 not only responded, but was the first to reach the site and grant the responding units with an updated status to the call. As I like to call these 2 paramedics, the Dynamic Duo, Leah O’Boyle, and Cassandra Petralia! Considering the death our devoted paramedics witness on a day-to-day basis, I was delighted to observe them both cheerful when I captured their picture. Their way of a stress reliever!

A substantial contingent of Fire-Police from both Millville VFC and neighboring stations were proficient in diverting all traffic around the fire scene. Since I respond to these calls from home in my personal vehicle, sans any emergency lights equipment. I wish to take the time to thank all these fire-police for extending to me the courtesy of allowing me entrance to the fire scenes.

Assistant Chief Ty Webb commanded the interior, Assistant Chief Eddie Hammond was tasked with maintaining the Command Vehicle and Fire Chief Walter Johnson oversaw the entire operation. Assistant Chief Rick Parrett III from Bethany Beach VFC oversaw their fire equipment and personnel. Upon a search of the home, it was found that no fire or smoke was evident. This comes under the saying of a “Good Intent Call” by the homeowner.

Definitely a good ending!
